Condolences

As salaamu alaikum wa rahmatuLlahi wa barakatu

Dear Shabazz Family,

The news of the unexpected death of our beloved brother and your dear son, nephew, and kin, Malcolm Shabazz weighs heavily upon our hearts. We were shocked to hear of this tragedy. He was an esteemed Muslim brother and Human Rights Activist. Despite his own struggles, he cared deeply about improving the lives of others. Malcolm aspired to live by the teachings of the Prophet Muhammad (s).

إِنَّا لِلَّهِ وَإِنَّا إِلَيۡهِ رَٲجِعُونَ

"... To Allah We belong, and to Him is our return" [Qur’an 2:156]

We know that Allah has appointed for each person a fixed time in this world, nonetheless we cannot help feeling that Malcolm has left us sooner than we expected. We grieve for the loss of a loved one. While we will miss him as a brother in faith, you will mourn him as family and kin. No one knew Malcolm better than you, so you must come together to share your memories of him to soothe the pain of his loss. We pray that your faith in Allah (swt) and in one another will help you through this difficult time. Please know that we will do all that we can for you and your family in this trying moment, so do not hesitate to reach out to us if needed.

May Allah’s Mercy be upon Malcolm’s soul, and may He grant your family peace and solace.

With warmest regards,

Fi amaniLlah,
